The P11-million donation by China Bank Savings includes 20 start-up savings deposits of P50,000 each under the CBS My First Million account, 30 Lenovo laptops, 20 Honda Click 125i motorcycles, and the grand prize of one 2024 Toyota Innova XE. Additionally, special tokens were given to each of the 10,000 teacher participants at the National Teachers Day event.

According to CBS First Vice President Niel C. Jumawan, the bank partnered with the Department of Education (DepEd) to support programs aimed at uplifting the quality of public education and promoting the welfare of teachers and learners across the country.

Jumawan added that since the launch of their partnership with DepEd in 2016, CBS has actively supported and participated in many key DepEd programs centered not only on learners but also on their teachers, one of which is the National Teachers Day celebration. “CBS has awarded over 30 million pesos worth of prizes and tokens to teachers attending DepEd’s National Teachers Day celebration over the past four years,” Jumawan said.

Additionally, CBS announced their commitment to working with the Department of Education to find ways to support advanced education for public school faculty through Project GURO. This initiative aims to raise the quality of instruction and make masteral degrees more accessible to many teachers.

“We salute all Filipino educators, especially the teachers in the countryside and in challenge areas such as the ‘last mile schools’,” Jumawan noted. “Your tireless service to ensure the welfare of the broader community has not gone unnoticed. Because of your patient labors in and outside your classrooms, our nation stands on the cusp of a great beginning.”
