For PLDT customers, reliable service is built on more than technology and infrastructure. It is powered by people—individuals who know the business, the communities they serve, and the responsibility of keeping Filipinos connected. This human spirit is at the core of the PLDT Pamana Service Awards, a tradition that honors employees who have devoted 25, 30, 35, and even 40 years of service to the company. By recognizing their expertise and institutional knowledge, PLDT underscores that service quality and continuity are not just about systems, but about people who embody Pusong PLDT.
This year’s awardees include three remarkable individuals whose journeys reflect the very heart of PLDT. Their stories remind us that behind every call, every connection, and every digital transformation are people who dedicate their lives to ensuring Filipinos remain linked to each other and to the world.
Ruel Brual: 35 Years of Service, Building Connectivity in Central Luzon
For 35-year service awardee Ruel Brual, currently the Zone Head for Tarlac and Nueva Ecija, the milestone is both deeply personal and profoundly meaningful. “I am very happy and fulfilled being in PLDT for 35 years,” he shared. From his early days as an Engineering Assistant in 1990 to leading major business zones across Luzon, Brual’s career evolved alongside PLDT’s own transformation.
He credits the leaders who mentored him, the teams he led, and the responsibility of delivering connectivity to communities in Tarlac, Nueva Ecija, and Aurora. “I feel useful and proud providing the telecommunications requirements in my area and helping these provinces as a partner for growth and connectivity building,” he said. His words highlight how service at PLDT extends beyond the organization—it is about nation-building, ensuring that communities thrive through access to reliable communication.
Brual’s journey reflects the resilience and adaptability required in the telecommunications industry. As technology advanced from analog systems to fiber connectivity, his leadership ensured that Central Luzon remained at the forefront of digital transformation. His story is a testament to how long-term commitment creates impact not only for the company but for the communities it serves.
Alan Abrina: 30 Years of Service, A Lifelong Calling in Mindanao
For 30-year service awardee Alan Abrina, currently the Repair Head for Business Delivery & Fulfill in the Visayas and Mindanao District, PLDT has been both a first job and a lifelong calling. “PLDT employment was indeed my first job, and it will eventually be my last – and that in itself is a blessing which I treasure,” he shared.
His journey began in the field as a Cable Splicer Helper, climbing poles and working underground, learning discipline through service. Over time, his openness to learn every facet of the business propelled him from outside plant work to executive leadership roles across Mindanao. “Every challenge, every achievement, and every lesson along the way has shaped not only my career but also who I am as a person,” Abrina reflected.
Today, he remains driven by one goal: to leave behind a legacy worthy of the next generation. His story resonates with the values of perseverance and humility—qualities that define PLDT’s workforce. By embracing every challenge, Abrina demonstrates how long years of service are not just about tenure, but about growth, leadership, and the desire to inspire future generations of telecom professionals.
Allan Reyes: 40 Years of Service, A Rare Milestone in Batangas
Reaching the rare milestone of four decades, 40-year service awardee Allan Reyes, Senior Telecom Engineer assigned to PLDT’s Batangas International Cable Station Operation, describes his journey with quiet pride. “I’m very blessed and happy that I reached 40 years of my career. Para kasing bihira ang nakakaabot ng 40 years of service (It seems like it is quite rare for someone to reach 40 years of service),” he shared.
Hired in 1985 as a Radio Technician, Reyes handled high-pressure, solo duties supporting critical communication systems, including military data circuits. Through dedication and love for his craft, he rose to become a Senior Telecom Engineer. “I love and enjoy my work,” he said simply—a sentiment that carried him through decades of change and innovation.
Reyes’ career spans eras of telecommunications history, from radio systems to international cable operations. His longevity reflects not only technical expertise but also a deep passion for service. In an industry defined by rapid change, his steady presence symbolizes continuity and trust, reminding us that true progress is built on the foundation of experience.
The Spirit of Pamana: Gratitude, Pride, and Hope
Together, the stories of Brual, Abrina, and Reyes embody what the Pamana Service Awards truly represent: gratitude for the past, pride in the present, and hope for the future. These awardees remind us that PLDT’s greatest legacy is not only the networks it builds, but the people who carry Pusong PLDT—dedicating their lives to keeping the country connected and passing on this Pamana of service for generations to come.
Their journeys highlight the human side of connectivity. While technology evolves, it is the people behind the systems who ensure that every Filipino household, business, and community remains linked. The Pamana Service Awards celebrate this truth: that service is not just about infrastructure, but about commitment, resilience, and heart.
WE:CARE – Strengthening PLDT’s Commitment to People
This commitment to people is strengthened through WE:CARE, PLDT’s employee value proposition of workplace experiences that foster connection, alignment, recognition, and empowerment. Shaped by the voices of people across the organization, WE:CARE was created in response to the call to be heard, to be supported, and to feel a genuine sense of belonging.
Under its Recognition pillar, the Pamana Service Awards stand as a powerful expression of this commitment. By honoring long years of service, PLDT reaffirms that every contribution matters and every individual has a place in the company’s continuing story. Recognition is not just ceremonial—it is a way of saying that the company’s success is built on the dedication of its people.
Conclusion: Passing On the Legacy of Service
The PLDT Pamana Service Awards are more than a celebration of tenure. They are a reminder that the company’s strength lies in its people—their knowledge, their passion, and their unwavering commitment to keeping Filipinos connected. As PLDT continues to innovate and expand, it does so on the foundation built by employees like Brual, Abrina, and Reyes.
Their stories inspire us to see connectivity not just as a technical achievement, but as a human mission. They remind us that every call answered, every line repaired, and every network built carries with it the dedication of individuals who believe in service as a legacy. That is the true meaning of Pamana—a heritage of connection, passed on from one generation to the next.
