5 breakfast date ideas in Makati

As busy working parents, Khris and I feel that having after-office evening dates seems impractical anymore. We believe that the time at night after all our activities for the day is better spent bonding with our son. At the same time, we do not want to forego our special moments together so we figured that the best way to do it is to go on breakfast dates.

5 Breakfast Date Ideas in Makati

5 breakfast date ideas in Makati

We live in Makati so it’s fairly easy and practical to do it that way. Plus, Khris and I both love breakfast food so it’s really much enjoyable for us to go on breakfast dates.

Anyway, if you are also thinking of doing the same, here are 5 breakfast date ideas in Makati. These are also restaurants that we love and have been to more than once:

1. Y Café

Address: Don Chua Lamko Building, 100 H.V. Dela Costa Street, Salcedo Village, Makati City
Telephone Numbers: +63 9176374785 and (02) 88391392

What to expect: spacious, cozy, and anime-themed interiors

Y Café’s lone branch is located in a quiet spot along H.V. dela Costa Street. While it is known as an evening hangout place where one may relax and have a few drinks after work, Y Café is also recommended for early birds as it opens at 8:00 AM.

We had Beef Tapa and what appears to be English Breakfast Plate. The Beef Tapa was served with garlic fried rice, two eggs that you may request to be cooked sunny-side up or scrambled, and a spicy vinegar dip. If you want a good start to your day, have Y Café’s Beef Tapa. The meat was tender and flavorful and was very satisfying to eat with garlic rice and vinegar. Finish it with a good cup of coffee and you are good for the entire morning.

Meanwhile, the English Breakfast plate is one heavy breakfast. It has sausages, bacon, fried mushrooms, cherry tomatoes, hash browns, and buttered toast. It’s good for sharing. If you want to have garlic rice with it, nothing and nobody will stop you from ordering. However, as it is, this is already a filling meal. It’s also delicious although there is nothing fancy or extraordinary about it.

Y Café is an anime-themed café so it’s also a good restaurant for those who are looking for a novel date idea.

2. The Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf

Address: SM Jazz Mall, Metropolitan Avenue, Makati City
Telephone number: (02) 84037224

What to expect: delicious food and coffee, and friendly vibe

The Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf (CBTL) is our all-time favorite coffee shop. They serve good food and good coffee, and some of their pastas, salads, and cakes have become staples of our lunch boxes.

We are lucky because there is a CBTL branch at the ground floor of our condominium building. We usually have brunches here on weekends and enjoy their simple breakfast plates and coffee.

It opens before 8:00 AM so it’s also a good place for breakfast dates. What we also like about CBTL is its relaxed and friendly ambiance.

3. The Wholesome Table

Address: Infinity Tower, H.V. Dela Costa Corner L.P. Leviste Street, Salcedo Village, Makati City
Telephone Numbers: (02) 88487777 and +63 9178857520

What to expect: delicious and guilt-free organic food, beautiful and spacious interiors

The Wholesome Table offers healthy food made of organic ingredients. This is also one of our favorite restaurants – we especially love the meatloaf and beef sirloin tips – but we usually have dinner here.

For breakfast, The Wholesome Table offers mainly nourishing breakfast bowls, toasts and breads, as well as pancakes and waffles.

The restaurant opens as early as 7:00 AM so it’s also great for those whose schedules for the day are full.

4. 30 buffet

Address: Heart Tower, 108 Valero Street, Salcedo Village, Makati City
Telephone number: (02) 84034144

What to expect: basic interiors, affordable breakfast buffet

If you are on the lookout for heavy breakfast, the 30 Buffet is the place to go. Honestly, it’s far from being romantic but if you go here early, you can enjoy the place without the crowd. They offer a selection of meat dishes, eggs, vegetables, fried garlic rice, soup, and unlimited coffee and iced tea.

30 Buffet offers a unique experience because diners are given only 30 minutes to eat. Don’t fret though and chew your food well because the servers usually allow diners to eat blissfully and to stay beyond 30 minutes.

5. Warung Indo

Address: Ground Floor, LPL Manor, San Agustin Street, Salcedo Village, Makati City
Telephone Numbers: +63 9267055507 and (02) 75015341

What to expect: not-too-spacious interiors, delicious Indonesian-Chinese food

If you fancy delicious Indonesian cuisine, then Warung Indo is for you. Surprised to find out that there is an Indonesian restaurant in Makati? Well, it’s worth checking out. This 24-hour restaurant lets diners enjoy flavorful and authentic Indonesian cuisine.

The restaurant does not really serve breakfast food per se; the menu remains the same for the whole day. However, you can order rice dishes like the Special Fried Rice with Chicken Satay, Egg Omelette, and prawn crackers, and noodle dishes (we tried the noodle soup with chicken and mushrooms and it was food). Just a word of caution though, the rice servings is big enough for two people so you might just want to order extra viand.

The interiors and ambiance are not really romantic because it’s very plain and simple, however, I would still recommend that you try Warung Indo early in the morning or even at night, although it can get crowded after dark.

Other options

These are just some of the restaurants around the Makati Central Business District. There are countless fast food outlets, convenience stores, and other restaurants within the vicinity. However, what I do like about the restaurants I mentioned above is that they open early in the morning so they don’t get too crowded. Hence, you can enjoy your breakfast date without much noise and the big crowd.

I hope you found something helpful in this post. Don’t you think breakfast dates is also a good idea in this fast-paced and traffic-heavy day and age?
